Questions people ask

Short answers, checked against the rules of each lottery corporation.

Which lottery draws are there tonight in Canada?

Tonight (Wednesday), the Lotto 6/49 and BC/49 draw takes place at approximately 10:30 PM Eastern Time. Winning numbers appear here within minutes of the official publication.

What time are Canadian lottery results posted?

National draws (Lotto Max, Lotto 6/49, Daily Grand) close around 10:30 PM ET and results are typically published between 10:30 PM and 11:00 PM ET. MAXPLUS and MaxMillions selections can take longer and occasionally appear the following morning.

Are lottery winnings taxed in Canada?

No. Lottery winnings in Canada are completely tax-free — winners receive the full advertised amount. Only future investment income earned on the winnings is taxable.

How long do I have to claim a lottery prize?

About one year from the draw date, in every province: OLG (Ontario) says 12 months after the draw date, and BCLC, WCLC, Loto-Québec and Atlantic Lottery all give one year. Scratch tickets differ — their expiry is printed on the back of the ticket.

Official sourcesResults come from BCLC, WCLC, Atlantic Lottery and Loto-Québec. Ontario 49, Lottario, Québec 49 and Québec Max are cross-checked between independent publications.
